Victim chased at gunpoint before hijackers steal car
The victim was chased by an armed attacker after stepping out to open his gate.
A driver was robbed of his vehicle and personal belongings during a hijacking along Wenden Avenue on the evening of July 15.
Brakpan SAPS are investigating a hijacking case following the incident, which took place at about 20:00.
According to police information, the victim had parked his silver-grey Datsun Go in the driveway and left the engine running while opening the gate.
A white Kia SUV stopped behind the vehicle. A man climbed out of the Kia, approached the victim and pointed a firearm at him.
The gunman then chased the victim into the yard, where he demanded the victim’s cellphone.
Fearing for his safety as the armed man continued to pursue him, the victim threw the phone to him.
When the victim returned to the gate, he discovered his vehicle had been stolen. A card holder containing bank cards and a driver’s licence was also left inside the vehicle.
