A man and two women were ambushed by hijackers along Muir Avenue in Brakpan Central on the evening of August 31.

According to police information, the incident took place at around 21:10 as the driver of a blue Mazda CX3 was dropping his aunt off at home.

He was going to drop off the other passenger in Leachville. The driver’s aunt was already out of the car when the men approached, and she was ordered back inside the Mazda.

One of the men was armed with a gun.

The driver was told to move to the passenger seat, and the hijackers drove off with them. The victims were instructed to look down during the journey.

They were dropped off in Tsakani, where the hijackers bound them with cables before fleeing in the Mazda.

Cash and cellphones were stolen along with the vehicle.

It is believed that another two men were involved. A white vehicle was used in the commission of the crime.

It is reported the Mazda was later recovered. A case of hijacking is under investigation by Brakpan SAPS.
