A case of murder is under investigation after a 58-year-old Brakpan woman was beaten to death with a hammer during the early hours of January 11.
The victim’s boyfriend (59) has been arrested in connection with the crime.
The couple lived in a room at a premises along Goods Road.
According to Brakpan SAPS, police were notified of the incident by concerned neighbours who allegedly heard the couple fighting at around 04:00.
When they did not see the woman later that morning, they went to the police station to report the matter.
Upon arrival at the address, police found the woman’s body on the floor of the room.
She sustained head wounds, and a hammer was found next to her body.
