Parents warned against fake 2027 school admissions notice

The Gauteng Department of Education has urged parents and guardians to ignore a fake online admissions notice circulating on social media.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has warned parents and guardians to ignore a fake notice circulating on social media claiming that the 2027 online admissions application process has opened.

According to the GDE, the notice is false and should not be relied upon.

The department confirmed that the official application period for 2027 online admissions for Grade One and Grade Eight has not yet been announced.

Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile assured parents and guardians that the official application dates will be communicated through the GDE’s official platforms once they have been finalised.

In the meantime, the department encouraged parents and guardians to prepare all the required supporting documents ahead of the application period.

The GDE also reminded parents that Grade R applications are not processed online and must be submitted directly to the relevant schools.

The department urged the public to rely only on information published through its official communication platforms to avoid being misled by false information circulating on social media.
