From July 17 to 23, Police Emergency Services, comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 73 suspects, recovered 39 motor vehicles and 11 firearms.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 16 arrests for serious crimes including assault, possession of suspected stolen property, contempt of court, handling a firearm while under the influence of liquor, extortion and possession of house or vehicle breaking implements.

Thirty-nine hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 11 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Eleven firearms were recovered accompanying one arrest. In further policing, 45 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroine, dagga, cat (cocaine), mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases. The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
