Two Brenthurst neighbours were targeted by hijackers outside a home along Shepstone Street on the evening of July 27 before being abducted and later dropped off in Tsakani.

According to police information, at about 18:30, one of the neighbours parked a green Jetour T2 Odyssey in his driveway before helping the other push a vehicle into the yard.

The Jetour was still idling in the driveway when a black Toyota Yaris pulled up. Three men got out of the Yaris and approached them.

One pointed a firearm at the first neighbour while another confronted the second. The pair were ordered to lie on their stomachs before they were searched and robbed of their belongings.

The victims were then forced into the Jetour, where they were bound with cable ties.

After driving for a few minutes, they were transferred to the Toyota Yaris and forced to lie down while the hijackers drove off.

The hijackers demanded the first neighbour’s cellphone password and banking app PIN. After driving for some time, the hijackers abandoned the victims in a veld in Tsakani.

One of the neighbours managed to remove the cloth covering him and free himself from the cable ties before helping the other.

They went to a tavern for assistance, where police were called and their families were contacted.

A tracking company was also notified, and the Jetour was recovered in Springs. Brakpan SAPS are investigating.
