Newly-cleaned park reminds of garden town days
Brakpan used to be a garden town, with beautiful parks and monuments. Clean-up effort remembers that time.
Brakpan used to be known as a garden town, with beautiful parks, monuments, gardens and plants wherever you looked.
A recent clean-up effort by Drummond Doig and his crew of volunteers hopes to help reclaim that beauty.
Doig and his team tackled the park and playground outside the Brakpan municipal swimming pool on Saturday, which was overgrown, used as a dumping ground and allegedly visited by drinkers and drug users who left their hazardous waste behind.
The effort began with local security personnel chasing the offenders away before cleaning began, and Doig plans to continue cleaning several areas and maintaining their newly cleaned state.
