Summer programme by local music label aims to empower youth

The programme hopes to bring hope for a better future to local youth by providing them with opportunities to develop themselves.

Dawgns Entertainment, a small local music label and studio, is bringing a new wave of hope to sweep through “the hood” of Langaville.

The label, founded by local youth leader Motsamai Justice Mohale and Vusi Ndlovu, along with Zaza Zondo, Mdu Khumalo and Themba Mathebula, is launching a community initiative aimed at keeping young people busy with positive activities that promote good morals.

“Dawgns Entertainment is not just a music label, it’s a movement,” said Mohale. “In a bid to fight crime, boredom and a lack of opportunities, the organisation is hosting a community programme in Langaville Extension 1.”

This programme includes a modelling competition, to give young girls and boys the opportunity to learn skills and showcase confidence and talent.

There will also be a soccer tournament to unite the youth through sport and teamwork, as well as opportunities for young artists to record music and perform.

“As part of this vision, I have officially established Dawgns Studio right inside the hood. It’s a professional recording studio built to assist upcoming artists who can’t afford the expensive studio time in the city,” Mohale explained.

“This studio is already helping local talent produce, record and distribute their music. So far we’ve worked with Mshoza TP and Mgiftane RSA who will be releasing their first single with Dawgns.

“We realised the youth have talent but no platform. Instead of complaining about what the hood lacks, we decided to be the change.

“We want to keep kids busy with music, sports and modelling instead of drugs and crime,” Mohale continued.

The community of Langaville Ext 1 is invited to be part of the movement, and businesses, sponsors and stakeholders to invest in youth development.
