Proposed Activity: The application for a prospecting right with bulk sampling. Alpha Mnukwa Investments (Pty) Ltd proposes to apply for a prospecting right to prospect with bulk sampling for Gold and other associated minerals which could be found in the area. The project will cover a total area of 18.037Ha.
Location: A Portion of the Remaining Extent of Portion 73 of the Farm Vlakfontein 69 IR situated in the Magisterial District of Benoni, Gauteng Province
Legislation Notice is hereby given in terms of regulation 16 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014 (`the Regulations`) as published in Government Notice No. R.982 in terms of sections 24(5) and 44 of the National Environmental Management Act (Act 107 of 1998) (`the Act`) that an application for an environmental authorization for a prospecting right has been submitted to the competent authority (Gauteng Regional Office Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources) in terms of the regulations. The application for a prospecting right in terms of section 20 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, Act 28 of 2002 as amended by Act 49 of 2008 has been accepted. The Environmental Impact Assessment Process as stipulated in the regulations will be followed in the application for an environmental authorization for the prospecting right.
Earthkeepers (Pty) Ltd has been appointed as independent environmental consultants to undertake the required environmental assessment and public participation processes for the proposed project.
