Eastern Gauteng hosts top wrestlers

The South African Wrestling Federation, in conjunction with The Eastern Gauteng Wrestling Federation, will host the 2013 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships, in Kempton Park.

The championships will be held over a three-day period, starting on December 5, at the Kempton Park Indoor Sports Centre.

The championships are a major feature on the international wrestling calendar and are sanctioned by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA).

Wrestlers from the 45 Commonwealth wrestling nations will participate in the event, with many of the teams featuring wrestlers who participated in the 2012 Olympic Games.

World class wrestlers like Sushil Kumar (India), who achieved an Olympic silver medal, are set to make an appearance for their countries.

The championships are an ideal opportunity for young wrestlers and other athletes from around South Africa to see Olympic class athletes in action.

Eastern Gauteng and Boksburg Wrestling Club’s Richard Addinall is a silver medal winner from the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and 2012 Ekurhuleni Sportsman of the Year winner, proving the quality of South African wrestling is up there, with the best in the world.

Eastern Gauteng Wrestling are proud to be hosting this prestigious event and look forward to seeing some of the best wrestlers in the world competing on South African soil.
