Top oval racers to gather at the Rock
South Africa’s top oval racing drivers are set to get together for the Rock Raceway’s Speed Weekend Frenzy from August 10 and 11.
The Brakpan circuit will burst into life again as racing drivers from as far as Cape Town, KwaZulu-Natal, Polokwane, Free State and Gauteng all do battle on the 400m oval circuit at the annual Speed Weekend Festival, proudly partnered with Standard Bank and HomeCorp.
The recently crowned 2018 Hotrod World Champion Billy Wood will also be on the track to race against 30 of South Africa’s fastest hotrods in the country, including spectator favourites like Rudi Myburgh, Jody Viana, Seef Fourie, Okkert Brits, Albert Bridges, Lonika Maartens, Andries du Preez and the two father-and-son teams of Jason and Neville Loosemoore and WF and Stephan Weideman, just to mention a few.
This Speed Weekend is a two-day event with proceedings getting underway on Friday.

Gates open 9am on the day, with practice commencing from 10am to 1.35pm.
Qualifying will start at 2pm, with racing starting at 7pm on Friday, for the Stocks Rods, 1660 Modifieds, 2l Hotrods, Super Saloons, 2l Midgets, Formula Ns, 125 karts and 2.1 Modifieds that will be running their first round of their National Championships.

On Saturday, the gates will open at 9am with the first round of qualifying commencing at 11am with the Ninja Midgets, followed by the Midgets and the National Hotrods qualifying commencing at 1pm.
Racing starts at 3pm.
Drivers will also get the opportunity to set the fastest lap times in each class during the qualifying time.
