Bok van Blerk live at the Mardi Gras Theatre
He is synonymous with carefully thought-out lyrics, feel-good music that makes fans go wild and just when you think he has offered all he had to give, Bok van Blerk releases something new and fresh.
Carnival City brings to its Mardi Gras Theatre this dynamic artist in yet another amazing but intimate show for all his old, new and potential fans on April 20.
Prepare to toe-tap, sing and sway along to the likes of De La Rey, Bloedbroers, Goeie Hout, Datsun Bakkie, Reënspinnekop, ’68 Chevy and Katie, to mention but a few of his hits.
Considering his 163 000 followers on Facebook, 105 000 on Twitter, CD sales of around 500 000 and a long list of awards to his name, Van Blerk who originates from the Western Cape, is loved by Afrikaans music-lovers across the country.
Best known for his song De la Rey, Van Blerk absolutely loves his country and culture and although this song sparked a little controversy, he had people at the edge of their seats when it was released.

In no time it had reached multi-platinum status, four Huisgenoot Tempo awards, five Vonk awards and the MK TV Award for Best MK Music video of the year.
Although very patriotic, Van Blerk also has a fun, very humorous side to him.
His album Van De la Rey tot Nou and his previous album, De la Rey, contain very similar content.
Sound-wise, many instruments (such as the concertina) used in recording his first album were used in his second album and while his first album featured a song by the iconic David Kramer called Katie, his latest album boasts Reënspinnekop and Winterkind by icons Valiant Swart and Koos Kombuis respectively.
The show starts at 8pm.
