Brakpan detectives go the distance at 99th Comrades Marathon

Two Brakpan SAPS detectives have been hailed as role models for their perseverance and dedication.

Brakpan SAPS station commander Brigadier Johanna Ngoma has applauded the two local SAPS detectives who participated in the 99th Comrades Marathon on June 14.

Detective Sergeant Thabiso Marakalala attached to the Brakpan SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit completed the race in 09:33:41, while Detective Sergeant Nape Motloung from the Brakpan detective branch finished in a time of 08:50:22.

This was the second time both officers took part in the renowned Ultimate Human Race. This year’s race was an “Up Run”, covering 85.7km from Durban City Hall to the finish line in Pietermaritzburg.

“The two runners, who are affiliates of the Gauteng SAPS Athletics Club, not only represented themselves, but Brakpan police as a whole,” said Brakpan SAPS social crime prevention and communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi.

Ngoma congratulated the duo, saying their performance in the demanding race showcased exceptional endurance, strength and determination while setting a positive example for their colleagues and the community.
