Bobbies U8s shine at Golden Lions Youth festival

This team made their club proud with two wins in spite of a narrow loss in their first match of the festival.

Bobbies Junior Rugby Club’s U8 team proudly represented the Valke region at the recent Golden Lions Youth Club Tag and T1 Festival, where they showcased exceptional talent, determination and sportsmanship.

They endured a rocky start against Diggers, losing 5-4. The game was described as a thrilling encounter, “demonstrating the team’s fighting spirit and never-give-up attitude.”

In their second match, the team produced an “outstanding display” to defeat Union 3-0.

“Their disciplined defence, quick decision-making and excellent teamwork earned them a well-deserved victory,” said Isabella Greyvenstein of the club.

They finished the festival on a high note, facing the Diggers once more, where they were determined to turn the tables.

“The team delivered an impressive performance, securing a convincing 6-2 victory and ending the tournament with confidence and pride,” she said.

The team left a lasting impression on everyone at the festival, as their dedication during training, discipline on and off the field, and respect for teammates, coaches, opponents and match officials reflected the values that define the Bobbies.

“Special recognition goes to the coaching staff, whose outstanding leadership, encouragement and commitment to developing young players were evident throughout the tournament,” Greyvenstein said.

“Their guidance helped the players perform with confidence, resilience and enthusiasm, while proudly representing the Valke region.”

The club’s community is incredibly proud of the team for representing both the club and region with honour.

“Their performances at the festival are a testament to the bright future of the club, and the strong foundation being built for the next generation of rugby players,” Greyvenstein said.
