Another taxi industry murder

The murder and attempted murder took place in Carletonville.

Yet another murder took place in the local minibus taxi industry this week.
The incident took place on the morning of Friday 31 May.

Two drivers of the Carletonville United Taxi Association (CUTA) were busy with routine tasks at the Carletonville Taxi Rank at approximately 08:00.
Suddenly a silver vehicle drove up to them. Two men jumped out and shot one of the drivers (38) several times in his head and upper body.

Unfortunately, some of the bullets also hit the other driver (28), who was buying food at the time. He was hit in how lower back and rushed to Carletonville Hospital.

The driver who was shot first died at the scene. He was a Lesotho national and his name has not yet been released.

The attackers raced away after the incident.

The police in Carletonville are investigating murder and attempted murder cases.
