Carletonville detectives are investigating a case of attempted murder following an incident in Khutsong Ext 5 this week.

A man and his three friends were sitting and drinking outside a house in the 60’s in the early hours of October 4.

At about 01:30, one of them went to lock the yard gate.

A few minutes later, the men saw an unknown man at the gate.

When one of them went to the wall to investigate, another man outside the yard fired a shot in his direction with a rifle.

The four friends started throwing empty bottles at the unknown men, of whom there were four in total.

Another man who was sleeping in the back room heard the commotion and ran to see what was going on.

One of the suspects fired a shot at him, which hit him in the right foot.

The attackers then ran away.

The injured man was rushed to Carletonville Hospital.

Police later discovered two empty AK-47 cartridges at the scene.
