What should have been a quiet Easter long weekend became a time of horror for a Kokosi couple.

As far as could be determined, a 40-year-old man and his girlfriend (46) lived together on Jakaranda Street in Kokosi.

At approximately 12:40 on 30 March, the man asked his girlfriend where his legal firearm was.

When he got hold of the 9 mm Norinco pistol, he shot her and turned the gun on himself.

Although bystanders called an ambulance, both had already died upon its arrival.
