Ken Short Water Polo Festival kicks off at Jeppe High School with hosts thrashing Parktown 12–0 (video)

Zize Ngcangisa and Kade Gorman lead Jeppe to early dominance as festival action heats up.

The Ken Short Water Polo Festival has officially begun at Jeppe High School for Boys in Kensington, with hosts Jeppe making a strong statement in the opening match by defeating Parktown Boys’ High School 12–0.

The first goal came in the opening quarter, scored by Jeppe U14 captain Zize Ngcangisa, breaking the ice and setting the tone for the game.

By half-time, Jeppe was firmly in control, with Zize and Kade Gorman each contributing four goals to the scoreline.

The festival promises a full day of competitive school water polo, with fixtures continuing as St David’s Marist Inanda face Grey College, followed by St Benedict’s College taking on Maritzburg College.

Later matches include St Alban’s College versus Michaelhouse and Pretoria Boys High School against Kearsney College.

Hosts Jeppe return to the pool to face Selborne College, while Parktown Boys meet Durban High School.

Additional fixtures see Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool play Westville Boys’ High School, St John’s College face Bishops Diocesan College, and St Stithians College take on South African College Schools.

Zize Ngcangisa said his side is prepared for a tough festival and is especially looking forward to taking on Selborne College.

Friday’s matches run from 07:30 to 19:30, featuring some of South Africa’s top school teams. Participating schools include KES, Maritzburg College, Michaelhouse, Parktown Boys’ High School, Pretoria Boys High School, Selborne College, South African College Schools (SACS), St Alban’s College, St Benedict’s College, St David’s Marist Inanda, St John’s College, St Stithians College, Westville Boys’ High School, Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies), Bishops Diocesan College, Durban High School, Grey College and Kearsney College.
