Residents receive title deeds

Residents of CoJ's Region F were all smiles and praises as they received their long awaited title deeds.

HUNDREDS of residents of the City of Johannesburg’s Region F were all smiles and full of praises as they received title deeds from the city’s first resident and mayor, Clr Parks Tau, on Thursday, July 7.

The South Rand Recreation Centre was jam-packed with residents who could not hide their excitement, especially the elderly, who now know they will leave their children and grandchildren with proof of property ownership.

The elderly were accompanied by their children and relatives to show their support and joy as they gladly shook hands with Tau, MMC of Housing Daniel Bovu, and MMC of Economic Development Ruby Mathang.

According to the City of Johannesburg, Tau will handover 334 title deeds to the residents of Region F as part of the Land Regularisation Programme (LRP), an initiative by the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Council (CoJ) to redress the distribution of council owned land where residents resided without any form of ownership.

This is a joint undertaking by the Joburg Property Company (JPC) and CoJ Housing Department to help see residents who have been renting council owned properties acquire full ownership in the form of title deeds and sectional title deeds.

Beneficiaries from Bellavista, Turffontein, Doornfontein and South Hills were excited to receive title deeds and become homeowners.
