Massachusetts for South’s teens
Ward 55 Clr Rashieda Landis also wished them well on their overseas trip.
THREE teenagers, Malcolm Botha (15), Jyotika Ramthol (17) and Ignacias Saal (17) from Bellavista Club House will be jetting off on July 24 to Boston, Massachusetts for a week on an educational tour.
They are going to a bi-annual event called Team Summit at the Museum of Science to use modern technology to solve current problems. About 100 club houses are expected to participate in a weeklong gathering.
In the South, drugs are a major problem among the youth and Malcolm, Jyotika and Ignacias will use this opportunity to share their plight with the rest of the world with the hope that new and innovative technological ways will be achieved to curb this scourge.
Jyotika said this opportunity might help them to assist their community in one way or other in drug-related issues. “It can also help us to learn from other countries how things are done. We can also be in a better position to choose better careers moving forward,” she said.
Club house coordinator, Salome Kanyane said this is a great chance for this trio to be exposed to new challenges. “We congratulate them because they will be representing our club house. They can use their expertise they’ve learnt here to come up with solutions,” she said.
Salome also mentioned that the club house is proud to announce that Bradwin Nettlingham, who also attended their programmes, is now a producer for the Afternoon Drive Show at Eldos FM.
Ward 55 Clr Rashieda Landis also wished them well on their overseas trip.
The club house offers training to both learners and young adults in the area. Some of the training includes digital programs, mentoring and music studios to name a few. On weekdays it is open from 09:00 to 17:00. They can be contacted on 071 361 9777.
