The world of tourism unfolds for learners

INFORMED LEARNERS: Learners had the opportunity to visit the stalls and exhibitions of different stakeholders in the tourism industry during the recent exhibition.

LEARNERS from Gauteng had an opportunity to discover more about what awaits them should they choose a career in tourism, during the Gauteng Tourism Career Exhibition, from August 24 to 26, at the Alberton Civic Centre.

ASakhe Events hosted the exhibition, with the aim of exposing learners to the tourism industry and informing them about the requirements of studying any of the fields in tourism, and the institutions they can attend to further their studies.

The exhibition also gave learners an opportunity to speak to people who work in the tourism industry and hear about their daily experiences.

There were 50 exhibitors from different institutes, companies and universities to share information with the learners.

Each day started with a presentation and then the youngsters were ushered to the exhibition room.

Business development manager at Dignity Dream, Janet Potgieter, Janine Basel from Eduone, Willy from TTPT Academy, Samley Molokomme from SMAB Aviation and Itumeleng Tlhabanelo from the Department of Education were the speakers at the event.

The director of Asakhe Events, Tshepang Lutshaba, is also currently a finalist in the Mrs Africa pageant.

“We have focus points that involve giving dignity back to woman and young girls across the African continent through Dignity Dreams,” said Tshepang.

She is also a board member of the Career Exhibition Information Association, an organisation that plays a role of systematically coordinating career exhibitions nationally and internationally.

“The Mrs Africa journey involves a lot of humanitarian work. I am passionate about charity and taking the opportunity to give back to learners in South Africa, and my next platform is to work with other countries,” Tshepang said.
