Southerners open their hearts

The residents heeded the call and scores of children from Christway Religious and Social Services benefited.

CHILDREN at Christway Religious and Social Services in Turffontein received a huge donation of shoes/trainers from Dario and Liana Gouveia from Sole2Sole on November 27.

This after Caxton Joburg South, in association with SPAR, earlier encouraged residents and companies to support the Drop a Pair and Show you Care initiative by donating running shoes/trainers in good condition.

Zondelela Ramashala was the face of SPAR in Joburg South. Dario and Liana Gouveia dropped about 550 pairs of trainers and running shoes off at the Caxton South office.

The residents heeded the call and scores of children from Christway Religious and Social Services benefited. Elize Bekker from Christway Religious and Social Services appreciated the gesture and thanked all involved in the initiative.

Zita Gouveia, Dario’s mother, and Alex de Azevedo (a friend) assisted the children at the centre to try on the shoes.

“I can see that some of the children need school shoes, I will try by all means to come back later with school shoes. Sole2Sole collects all different types of shoes. We have a huge need for school shoes and children’s shoes at the moment so we encourage everyone to clear out their cupboards and donate their too small shoes,” said Zita.
