Water recovery remains uneven for South Hills and Crown Mines areas

Joburg Water continues Stabilization work in Crown Mines system.

Johannesburg Water issued a recovery update showing water supply is still stabilising unevenly across parts of the city, with South Hills and Crown Mines among the areas remaining in the recovery phase.

According to the city, on June 1, several parts of the network have shown resilience and improvement.

However, systems such as South Hills continue to require pressure stabilisation before normal operations can resume.

In South Hills, the tower is currently empty, and pumping cannot resume at this stage due to insufficient suction pressure.

Technical teams are monitoring the system closely and will resume pumping as soon as operating conditions allow.

Recovery within the Crown Mines system also remains constrained, with reservoir levels still low.

The outlet remains closed, and pumps are not yet operational as pressure stabilisation work continues.

Johannesburg Water said recovery efforts are ongoing and teams will provide further updates as conditions improve in affected areas.

Residents in South Hills and Crown Mines are urged to use water sparingly while restoration work is underway.
