“Pepsi Girl is a rescue cat and apart from being ‘the’ most gorgeous cat in the world, I love her to bits,” said Gail.
FAMOUS cat Pepsi Girl, that resides in Liefde en Vrede, is featured in LoveCats 2019 calendar along with another 11 beautiful cats, three who are also from South Africa.
The CHRONICLE interviewed her owner, Gail Hughes, and was hoping to get a little hug from Pepsi Girl, but she was too shy and ran and hid.
“Pepsi Girl is a rescue cat and apart from being ‘the’ most gorgeous cat in the world, I love her to bits.
“My husband, Dave, won’t admit it, but I have a feeling he feels pretty much the same about her,” laughed Gail.
Gail entered Pepsi Girl into the competition for this year’s calendar and was thrilled when she was chosen as Miss July.
“Out of nearly 900 other cats, she made the top 12. Pepsi Cat is also on Facebook (Cats Whiskers) and is followed by 150 000 people worldwide.
“She has so many fans out there and receives many gifts from overseas, including toys and pet treats. It really is quite incredible,” added Gail.
Pepsi Girl is on a special diet of Hill’s Prescription Diet food and although she’s had a few health problems over the last couple of years, she’s now much better.
Before the CHRONICLE left, Gail managed to persuade Pepsi Girl to come out of hiding for a photo.
“You see, she can be sociable sometimes,” added Gail.
