Inspirational talk given to female learners of Abbotts College
Miss Teen SA semi-finalist, Immaculate Khumalo, gave an inspirational talk to the girls at Abbotts College.
THE female learners from Abbotts College received a talk of inspiration and motivation from one of the school’s former learners and Miss Teen SA semi-finalist, Immaculate Khumalo.
On March 12, many female learners sat down in their school hall, ready to listen and be inspired. Immaculate used to be just like them – a regular learner at Abbotts College – but now she’s grown up and on the path to a bright future.
Esmari Kilian, head teacher of Grade Nine, gave an introduction before handing over the word to Immaculate. Immaculate gave this inspirational and motivational talk with the purpose of uplifting young girls and encouraging them to help uplift each other.
“Girls, we must be there for each other,” she started. “I want each of you to motivate each other to be the best version of yourselves that you can be.
“Us women need to know the importance of respect – respect for others and, very importantly, self-respect. Respect others by not judging a book by its cover, just as you don’t want to be judged by other people who don’t know your story.
“We need to respect ourselves and love ourselves. We must have confidence and believe in ourselves. Please don’t allow anything to define your worth, other than who you are inside. Clothes, the number on the scale, your skin and hair, money, boys – none of those things define who you are. Only you can.
“So, be confident in yourself, your abilities, your knowledge and your character. Make good decisions every day, because every single decision you make – no matter how small – plays a role in your eventual future. You deserve the best life.
“Be there for each other, because we need each other’s support to be able to be the best and make the world a better place. Girls run the world,” she concluded.
An energetic applause followed and clearly many girls took her speech to heart. Esmari thanked her and encouraged everyone to vote for her to be the next Miss Teen SA. On behalf of the community, CHRONICLE wishes Immaculate the best of luck with her journey.
