“Special thanks to Golden Falls Spur and Sasol garage Swartgoud Suideroord for all their support, as well as to Cindy Morujao from CPF Mondeor and to Pam for her help with the book swop.”
SENIORS on the Go breakfast was held at Golden Falls Spur in Columbine Square on June 25, with guest speaker Julie Maule (aka The Bag Lady) chatting about how to stretch the rand.
She explained how the seniors should check their shopping inserts in the local Caxton papers, comparing prices between the major stores (Pick n Pay, Checkers and Woolworths) and go for the best prices and quality.
“During winter you can really stretch some of your food choices by adding carbohydrates, especially if you make homemade soup, add chopped raw potato to the soup mix and it will make it go further and it will still taste delicious.
“Make sure to buy fruit and vegetables which are in season and look out for the 50 per cent off deals at Checkers and the 30 per cent off specials on some of the meat at Woolworths.”
Coordinator Michelle Pelser and her team handed out beautiful homemade birthday cards (made by Joy Boswell) for all the seniors who celebrated birthdays in May, June and July.
“Special thanks to Golden Falls Spur and Sasol garage Swartgoud Suideroord for all their support, as well as to Cindy Morujao from CPF Mondeor and to Pam for her help with the book swop,” Michelle added.
A delicious breakfast was enjoyed and the seniors had a chance to mix and socialise.
