Waterstone College marimba band excels at festival

In the Proudly South African section, they came second out of 15 schools and won the Strictly Classical section out of 13 schools.

THE Waterstone College marimba band competed in the International Marimba and Steelpan Festival at St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls recently.

This festival is the largest marimba festival in South Africa and arguably the largest in the world.

The band competed in a total of four categories.

In the Proudly South African section, they came second out of 15 schools and won the Strictly Classical section out of 13 schools.

“We would like to congratulate all our learners and teachers who were instrumental in making this happen. This is an excellent achievement and is a testament to their hard work and dedication,” the school added.
