Man gets seven years in prison for house break-in and theft in Bassonia

The owner managed to catch the accused and the police were called.

THE Mondeor SAPS station commander, Col JJ Bezuidenhoudt, has welcomed the conviction of Nhlanhla Mthembu (47), who was handed seven years direct imprisonment by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court for house break-in and theft.

On June 5 the accused broke into a house in Jet Street, Bassonia. The victim was asleep when he was woken up by a noise inside the yard. The owner managed to catch the accused and the police was called.

Bezuidenhoudt has praised all those who were involved in ensuring the conviction of the accused, saying: “The conviction and sentencing of this criminal will certainly help our cause a great deal to successfully combat property-related crimes in the Mondeor policing area.”
