Calvary Christian College learners excel at eisteddfod

The learners and their coaches put in many hours of practise.

THE adjudicator and chairperson of the Alberton Eisteddfod praised all the learners from Calvary Christian College who participated in various categories at the event this year.

A total of 245 of Calvary’s learners took part in nine sections.

A gold certificate is awarded for scores between 80 and 89 per cent while diplomas were awarded for marks of 90 per cent and higher.

Gold in the following categories:

Spreekkoor: Grade Four/Five and Six/Seven

Choral verse: Grade Four/Five and Six/Seven

Solo art song: Lesedi Morudi

Gospel vocal choir

Diplomas in the following categories:

Choral verse: Grade One to Three

Section winners dramatised choral verse: Grade Eight/Nine

Section winners dramatised choral verse: Grade 10/11

This is a major achievement for Calvary, particularly in the Spreekkoor section because for many of the learners Afrikaans is not their mother tongue.

The two groups that were winners in the dramatised choral verse were invited to the gala evening.

Learners and their coaches put in many hours of practise and as the saying goes – practise makes perfect.
