The Gathering Community Church helps Thinasonke

The Gathering Community Church donated food parcels to the people in Thinasonke.

The Gathering Community Church rose to the call to help others in need within their community by donating food to those affected by the Covid-19 lockdown.

On June 13 the church, in partnership with the Bracken Community Forum and assisted by police, delivered over 300 food parcels to households in Thinasonke.

According to Yorick Broom, the donations were made available by a donor from Canada who provided them with the funds needed to make the packs after raising funds for relief during a go-fund-me campaign.

Each pack contained foodstuffs which included vegetables, flour, soy mince and soup and was accompanied by a 3kg bag of potatoes.

The hope of the church members was that these food packs would sustain those in need for a while and help them survive the period of lockdown.
