Mondeor Community School organised a clean-up day of their school.
Sandy Carter from the school said they taught Grade 0 to R classes about the three Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle.
“We have taught them the importance of recycling. We showed them what can be recycled and what waste can be recycled.
“Then we went out onto our playground with the recycling bins provided and the children and teachers cleaned up the playground,” she said.
While they were cleaning, children were taught how to sort and why it is so important to recycle and not litter.
“We appreciated the efforts children have taken to learn about a clean environment and how they should prevent littering,” she said.
Children at Mondeor Community School were excited about their teaching and are happy to be back to school full time.
“Covid-19 has made us face challenges but with all the hardships, we are ready to teach our learners in their classes. “The pandemic had a major factor in our studies, where learners fell behind with their school work, but we are back with a positive attitude,” she said.
