JSPCA pleads for donations to purchase new bakkie
Last year a JSPCA inspector was involved in a serious accident with one of their vehicles.
Johannesburg SPCA’s Liana Marx said, “This vehicle has a cage attached to it and it is used every day to collect stray, injured animals or any donated or unwanted pets. It goes out at 8 am every day and comes back at around 4pm. With the accident we were extremely thankful the inspector was not injured nor the cage,” she said.
Their dilemma now is that they are one vehicle down and it is the vehicle that was used to collect multiple animals at a time, saving petrol fees and time.

“Without this vehicle our reaction time is sadly longer and our concerns are that since we are not able to react as fast as we wish an animal might end up suffering. Our insurance has paid out but it is a drop in the bucket.
“Hyundai South Africa has come on board and made a generous donation towards purchasing a new one but it is nowhere near enough.”
She explained that the vehicle they lost was a Hyundai H-100 2.6 Euro 2 deck and they desperately need the same vehicle.
“Along with branding of the new vehicle, we are looking at R200 000 to cover all the cost. As animal welfare relying totally on the generosity of the public, we simply don’t have this amount to purchase a new bakkie.
We are appealing to the generosity of our supporters to please help us, without your help we will not be able to continue helping as many animals as needed,” said Marx.
“For any donations made towards the JSPCA, we will gladly provide a Section 18A tax certificate. Please find it in your heart to help us. If we don’t help them, who will.”
Donations can be paid into the following account.
JHB SCPA, FNB Southdale, branch code 254 205, account number 623 6250 8396 with reference “Bakkie”.
