Southside Sterilisation Assistance Project reaches out to locals

Southside Sterilisation Assistance Project extended a helping hand to residents of Jackson Drift informal settlement on April 17.

Southside Sterilisation Assistance Project partnered with Brackenhurst Veterinary Hospital to assist Cause 4 Paws to dip, deworm and donate food for the dogs in the area.

They helped treat about 200 dogs, thanks to Shayna of Zoetis and Simparica SA after donating boxes of Simparica tick and flea treatment for the day. Brackenhurst Vet successfully sterilised about 170 furry friends.

Sharon Huson of Brackenhurst Veterinary Hospital said they might visit the settlement again in three or four months to help alleviate the biliary in the camp.

Pet owners were glad to receive assistance with their pets.

“We were originally going to dip dogs but due to the cold weather and Simparica’s awesome donation, there was no need to. We also had a few cats come on the day and they were also treated and given food. Southside thanks its supporters, Brackenhurst Vet and everyone who helped reach our goal,” she said.
