A must-win for Mokebisa

Mokebisi fights out of the BRD Boxing Academy stable, which is situated at Turffontein Racecourse.

With an International Boxing Federation (IBF) title fight hanging over her head, Matshidiso Mokebisi has her work cut out for her when she will take on Bonita van Jaarsveld over the weekend.

The two women boxers will go toe-to-toe in a lightweight fight on TLB Boxing Promotions, The Night of Honour and Passion, which will be held at Donaldson Community Centre, Soweto, on June 26. The event will start at 13:45 with minor fights and will be live-streamed.

Mokebisi will fight in August for the IBF title and will be firing on all systems, as she needs to win against van Jaarsveld. Mokebisi fights out of the BRD Boxing Academy stable, which is situated at Turffontein Racecourse.

The 31-year-old has a record of 13 wins, four KOs, eight losses and one draw while the 30-year-old van Jaarsveld boasts a record of five wins, one KO, two losses and two draws.

In the main bout, Xolisani Ndongeni will come up against Peter Panabeni from Zimbabwe in an international junior welterweight fight. Athenkosi Dumezweni will take on Johannes Simon from Namibia in a junior bantamweight fight.
