Remy Reece and A-iesha on their musical journey to stardom
Remy Reece from Rosettenville and A-iesha from Ormonde are two solo artists with different singing styles collaborating on an upcoming joint EP.
The artists met in 2019; they have been working together to create different, inspiring and relatable music.
“We refer to ourselves as the Eclectic Music Couple because we are different. Our music is a mixture of 90s pop and hip-hop. Our sound is diverse with the potential to reach the international stage.
“We have managed to mix sweet melodic female vocals with rough, raw and fast-paced male rapping all into one EP. We are a fun-loving power couple who just wants everyone who deserves to be happy,” said the duo.
A learning curve
A-iesha said it was never a smooth journey for them to break into the music industry. They believe every artist had to work hard to taste success.
“We have careers as solo artists, which is how the majority of our fanbase has known us since we began in the industry. We are grateful that we have seen progress in our music careers.”
She said many doubted them as a duo, but they believed in themselves to bring good music to the people.
“We also have been let down regarding time, work, content and sponsorship to fulfil our dreams. We found ourselves relying on many external people to help us get our projects completed on time and the way we envisioned them. Eventually, we learned not to expect too much and to try and learn what we could and use what we have to complete and promote our work.
“We are artists with no record label or sponsorship to back us,” she said.
Never give up
Remy Reece said their proudest moment is never giving up on their dream. Having to push themselves to the top is one of their priority.
“We were able to push and promote our image and music as independent artists. Now we are being recognised and our story is being heard.
“Being able to work with like-minded and talented individuals in all departments has been an experience. It takes a magical creative team to put it all together and we were blessed with so many,” said Remy Reece.
Their music has taken strain due to the pandemic, but they have learned a lesson when it comes to patience.
“This is a tough industry to break and in these times it is even tougher. But patience is key.
“The pandemic has forced us to stay home and get all of the admin and creative work done. We can now enjoy more conversations about where we are headed and what we have learned,” he said.
They are working on their first joint EP called It Is What It Is.
“We have been working on those songs and all the admin and the documenting of the creative process that goes behind it. We have been strategically promoting for the past three months. At the moment, we are getting ready to release a freestyle music video for the song and preparing all the new content for the release of our next single, featuring King Jillz.
“We hope to earn a decent living from just the music in the near future and we plan to release more solo singles and albums. We dream of our story being heard through our music, and we dream of inspiring and uplifting the young and the old with our music, our journey, our story and our rewards,” said A-iesha.
