More than just a beauty pageant
Young women will be empowered through various programmes leading to Miss Rosettenville pageant.
Active Youngins Foundation (AYF) will be hosting Miss Rosettenville 2021 Season 2 this November.
Miss Rosettenville beauty pageant is not just a beauty pageant, it is a development programme that seeks to grow young women who are in the art space, especially modelling.
Founder of AYF Jimmy Ntuli said it is one of the hardest careers in the entertainment industry as they see everyday scandals about pageants in South Africa.
“As a foundation, we hold our standard very high as we are not a beauty pageant company but a development NPO focuses on entertainment. Last year’s event was a successful sold-out event. This year’s version has begun as we called it Miss Rosettenville 2021 Season 2, under the slogan – The bigger the better.
“We have received more than 100 requests from the models around the South in Region F who want to join this year’s pageant as we continue the build-up road campaigns where we host fashion events, fun walks, girls’ talk, mental health awareness and community development campaigns.
“Here we are offering leadership skills to the models and shaping them to be ready for the big pageants such as Miss South Africa to as far as Miss Universe.
“We have partnered with professionals in the beauty field who will be training and judging this year’s version. We have also appointed our current Miss Rosettenville Siphokuhle Qayiso a director of the foundation as she won Miss Rosettenville 2020.
“We are working from a zero budget as we are not funded; however, we continue to keep our communities on the map of what is going on.

“We are calling all local businesses to come on board and assist us in making this programme once again and as bigger than last time.
“As we know we are faced by a pandemic we continue to encourage our community to look after themselves and vaccinate, we applaud our communities that they didn’t loot as we saw in other areas the looting that happened. We as Region F remained and protected our community businesses,” explained Jimmy.
This year’s competition will have a seminar, which will give all the models a background of how to run a business as to some this is a career and AYF intends to grow them, partnering with other businesses’ mentors.
Registration is still open as they had to extend it due to lockdown; however, they will close as they reach their target.
“We’ve been around the South providing professional photoshoot to our contestants with our media partner, award-winning Ayanda Films. Region F, the time is now for the youth to fully partake in all community programmes,” he said.
