Alberton Lions hosts Walk for a Purpose
To assist new mothers and their newborn babies at the South Rand Hospital, Alberton Lions hosted a walk on August 9.
In line with National Women’s Day, with the support of the community, Alberton Lions hosted a Walk for a Purpose on August 9 in Alberante.
The walk was hosted in collection of donations for their ‘mommy care bags’ project which is then presented to new mothers at the South Rand Hospital.
The care bags comprise knitted clothing, a blanket, knitted teddy, toiletries for mothers and a child as well as PPE.
Tammy du Plooy of Alberton Lions said the project has been ongoing for over four years and the need has increased.
“Alberton Lions reached out to the community for help and they responded. A big thank you to all those who supported this worthy cause, your donations are greatly appreciated and enable us to continue making a difference together.
“Please follow us on our Facebook page @Alberton Lions Club,” she said.
