WATCH: Girls with Hope celebrates Women’s Month
Girls with Hope, an Eden Park-based NPO, hosted a talk with young girls to commemorate Women’s Month at Opel Weg Primary School.

The NPO’s mission is to help young girls grow up into good members of the community.
The day saw much excitement with dancing and informative talks to encourage the guests.
Girls with Hope founder Beatrice Dortley addressed the girls on abuse and the importance of opening up conversations about the subject. She also encouraged the girls to focus on school instead of getting involved in bad activities.

Naysha Avontuur spoke to the girls about peer pressure and for them to not use their personal circumstances as an excuse not to make a success of life.
Meryl Brown explained the importance of confiding in an adult you can trust about your problems, even if it is not your parents. All the speakers were introduced by MC Mo Shambo, who kept the day running smoothly.
The day ended with the Girls with Hope dancers being given a certificate to thank them for their dedication and hard work. Everyone enjoyed a meal together afterwards.
Girls with Hope thanked everyone who contributed to making the day a success, including the speakers, as well as donors who helped them make the gift packs for the girls.
