Big success at karate nationals
Karateka from the Shin-Gi-Tai Karate Academy took part in the South African Shotokan Karate Academy National Champions on September 25.
The students performed well, raking in 10 medals: six bronze, two silver and two gold.
Jovan Oosthuizen received silver for kata, Riley Pieterse bronze for kata, Sheyan Singh bronze for kumite and Demira Singh bronze for kata. Adrian Biccard won silver for kata and bronze for kumite.
Lynda Myburgh received bronze for kata and kumite, while Xavier Boshoff won both the kata and kumite.
The Shin-Gi-Tai Karate Academy trains at the First Randhart Scouts hall on the corner of Hibiscus and Boekenhout streets. The training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:30 to 18:30 for beginners and 18:30 to 19:30 for advanced students.
