Blake grateful after local franchise hosts fund-raiser
Brackenhurst youngster Blake Froneman secured a substantial donation over the weekend to help cover his medical expenses.
A total of R18 525 and an additional R2 766 was made at the till that was dedicated to Blake Froneman’s fund-raiser hosted by Alberton Crossing McDonald’s on November 28.
Weeks after sharing the Brackenhurst youngster’s story, Alberton Crossing McDonald’s marketing manager Thabile Dube decided to raise funds for the 10-year-old.
Locals showed up in great numbers to show support of the youngster’s fund-raiser. Also present on the day was a team from Remax, which showed up to offer its support.
Funds raised by the local franchise are to help cover Blake’s medical expenses, which range from R2 000 to R4 000 monthly.

At least 10% of sales made on the day will go towards his fund-raiser and will see him through the months that lie ahead.
The Brackenhurst youngster is blind and autistic and his medical expenses are all necessary to help him with his daily life, as well as to also get him a guide dog.
Blake’s mother, Rose-Lee Watson, thanked McDonald’s for raising funds for her son. She also reiterated that there was a good turnout at the fund-raiser.

“My son needs to see an ophthalmologist annually to have his eyes checked and also needs to see an orthotist for prosthetic supports for his feet and ankles. I appreciate the McDonald’s staff. They worked hard and were professional and helpful,” she said.

Thabile previously told the RECORD the youngster’s story moved her, so she saw the need to assist.
“As a parent, I was deeply touched as I went through the story. This was our way of showing humanity and extending a helping hand because I realised they need help. So let’s join hands and help Blake,” she said.
