WATCH: Schools receive shoes from legend

Lucky Lekgwathi Foundation and Southdale Shopping Centre donated school shoes to Ormonde Primary School and Hoërskool Die Fakkel on February 7.

This has become a regular feature for soccer legend Lucky Lekgwathi since he started donating school shoes in 2019. He said as promised, he came back to donate school shoes.

“We promised to come back to Ormonde Primary, but because of Covid-19, we weren’t able to donate last year. The teachers told me that there is respect at the school, and we like to be part of learners who show respect,” said Lekgwathi.

He told the learners they must continue to respect, be dedicated, work hard and be disciplined.

Accompanying Lekgwathi were his Lucky Lekgwathi masters captain, Karabo Mogotlane, former SGB chairperson Clerence Skhosana and Grootman manager Reza Amod. Grootman is Lucky’s restaurant based in Southdale Shopping Centre.

Mogotlane said he would echo the words of Lekgwathi, to continue to respect as respect will take you far. Amod said learners need to work hard in order to achieve their goals.

“You must think about your goals and start working on them now. Those who have respect and discipline will achieve anything they desire. Remember, when you are old you need to make a difference in your community. Teachers and community are here to support you, so make us proud,” he said.

Hoërskool Die Fakkel donation

Hoërskool Die Fakkel received school shoes and a soccer kit from Lucky Lekgwathi Foundation. The foundation promised to work with the school and bring lots of good things throughout the year.

Lekgwathi encouraged learners to respect the time and not come late to school.

“You need to respect your schoolwork so there will be better leaders,” he said.
