SOJO business and tourism, in conjunction with Pam Golding Properties, FSG, Aspen Home Owners Association and Balwin Development, has started with the cleaning of Kliprivier Drive on February 23.
The aim is to clean the road to help with the theft of cables that has been plaguing the area.
On February 23, 30 volunteers pitched up to start with the clean-up on the corner of Kliprivier Drive and True North Road in Mulbarton.

On the first day, 600 bags were collected.
The CEO of SOJO, Nicky Vakaloudis, said, “I’m happy with the progress made on the first day of the clean-up. We are planning to clean up the whole Kliprivier Drive from Booysen to the bottom of Kliprivier Drive.
“We also want to work with the City of Johannesburg and communities to help keep the area clean to ensure the area becomes the jewel it can be.

“SOJO would like to thank our sponsors for the clean-up. Aspen Home Owners Association, Aspen Development, local residents, Pam Golding for the water they gave, Indian Cuisine for the lunch they sponsored, Debonairs for the lunch they sponsored, Oasis water for sponsoring ice, SA Corp Gift for caps and PPE and Pikitup for sponsoring bags to help with the picking up the grass that was cut,” said Vakaloudis.
The next step for the clean-up efforts will be to get more members from the community involved to make the clean-up easier for all parties involved.
Councillor for Ward 23 Tyrell Meyer also visited and helped with the clean-up efforts.
The clean-up continued until February 25.
