Corinthians cricket coach story to inspire others

"I want to help get children away from the situations we see in the streets, such as the drug trade."

David Stroud, a cricket coach at Corinthians Club in La Rochelle, has not led the best life but hopes to inspire others with his story.

The CHRONICLE caught up with Stroud to find out more about him and the passion he holds for cricket.

Stroud is a recovering addict who started using prescription medication for a medical condition that later turned to harder drugs.

With the help of his family, he decided to get help and went to rehab, which he completed successfully.

With a passion for cricket coming from his day in school, Stroud was approached by Jack Msibi from Corinthians once it started to offer cricket at the club.

“I stay across the road in La Rochelle and was approached by Jack and asked if I wanted to coach cricket at the club. With my passion for the sport, I accepted the offer and started recently,” said Stroud.

“I want to help get children away from the situations we see in the streets, such as the drug trade.”

Stroud’s involvement with the club allows the players to enjoy character building and teamwork.

“Corinthians has given me the pillar of hope that I can contribute something positive to the community, and by God’s grace I’m still going strong,” said Stroud.
