Bowlers compete in Easter Bowls Festival
Alberton bowlers and those from surrounding areas took part in their annual Easter Bowls Festival at Alberton Bowls Club.
In what was described as great weather that complemented the weekend’s game, 72 bowlers and their supporters experienced an enjoyable and competitive two days.
The rainy conditions over the Easter weekend resulted in the annual Easter Bowls Festival at Alberton Bowls Club being postponed to May 1 and 2.
The revised tournament, attended by many, was named Easter in May and had participating bowlers attending from as far as the Vaal.
Attendees commended the club for its good greens, excellent catering and facilities in general.
Organiser Ray van Niekerk said: “Teams came from several districts in the province including Sables, Johannesburg Bowls Association, Sedibeng and Ekurhuleni.”
The first prize of R10 000 was won by local Alberton four teams of Sheila, Ettienne Smith, Val and Rene Boyer.
