4Racing hosts its championships day 2

The Turffontein 4Racing successfully hosted its championships day 2 to celebrate their 5 themes of the season on March 4.

Classic Day at Turffontein truly lived up to its name with some spectacular horse racing on March 4.

Hollywood Syndicate won the R1.5 million Grade 1 Global Sports Betting SA Classic, while Anfields Rocket surged home to win the day’s big race.

According to CEO of 4Racing, Fundi Sithebe, the 10 races that were featured on Classic Day emphatically met all the standards for an exciting race meeting.

“What a Classic Day! The Championships season keeps delivering stunning race days and we are loving every moment of it. Well done to all the winning jockeys and winning connections on the day, for the spectacular show they put on today and thank you also for a great crowd that attended,” said Futhi.

Trainer Sean Tarry’s Bless My Stars won the R1.25m Grade 1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic in Johannesburg’s The Championships second round, with champion jockey S’manga Khumalo holding off Richard Fourie and Feather Boa in a thrilling finish.

Sean Tarry’s Under Your Spell, who was ridden to victory by Luyolo Mxothwa, won the Global Sports Betting Hawaii Stakes, the first feature race of the day.

Futhi said that there was no overall winner of the World Sports Betting Triple Crown or Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara for three-year-olds this year due to the amazing results, as new champions were awarded in the second leg of the series today because of the strong fields and competitive racing.

“It is unfortunate that there is no longer a chance to claim the big bonuses of the WSB Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara series as both winners of the first lags lost out today, but that just shows the quality of the racing on the Highveld and we look forward to what the third leg of the Triple Series will bring on Derby Day,” Futhi explained.
