WATCH: 3 dead, 4 hospitalised after tragic accident in Sky City

The four injured patients were treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to the nearest hospital for further medical attention.

Three people have been killed, and four others injured following a crash involving a bakkie and truck at the intersection of R550 and King Mohlala roads near Sky City outside Palm Ridge on Tuesday morning.

According to the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) spokesperson, William Ntladi’s rescue team from both Palm Ridge and Zonkizizwe Fire Stations received the call at 08:47 this morning and responded instantly to the scene.

“On arrival, an articulate super-link truck was found to have T-boned a single cab bakkie on the driver’s side and instantly killing three occupants and four others critically injured,” he said.

Ntladi said two adult female passengers and a male bakkie driver are the deceased and four female adults were injured.

“The injured were medically treated on scene by paramedics before transportation to the nearest hospital. The two truck crews escaped with no injuries,” he explained.

He added that an inquest docket was opened by the City of Ekurhuleni’s traffic officers.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Police Department (EMPD) advise motorists to approach the scene with caution or use alternative routes to avoid any further delays.
