Foundation tackles hunger with community support

Donations from local ministries and Panorama Flea Market fuel week of outreach in Joburg south.

No less than 380 meals were distributed to indigent people and struggling families as a result of a community-driven outreach by the Sharing Kindness Foundation.

This was made possible thanks to a network of local soup kitchens, donors, and volunteers. The initiative provided food through the soup kitchens at Elethu Themba Public and the Sharing Kindness Foundation.

Support was also extended to Delores Camp, who assists elderly residents and children in the South Hills area.

The initiative would not be possible without strong community backing. Key support came from the charity shop, nursery, and coffee shop at the Panorama Flea Market, along with donations from Resthaven Ministries, DEOPR Caring and Frail Facility and Alberton LewenSentrum congregation.

Sharing Kindness Foundation founder Nic Janse van Rensberg praised the collaborative effort.

“Every meal represents someone who won’t go to bed hungry tonight. This is what happens when a community decides to show up for each other.

“From the Panorama Flea Market team to our church partners, every donation and every volunteer hour matters. Our soup kitchens run on kindness, and this week proved that kindness is alive and well in our area. Many thanks, and keep on sharing kindness.”

The group thanked the community for its continued support and encouraged residents to keep contributing to local feeding schemes as the need remains high. To donate to SKF, call 068 037 0008.
