Zille pays elderly a visit
A visit to the Directorate Enforcing Older Persons Rights gives DA Mayoral candidate, Helen Zille an opportunity to withness the home's work.
Helen Zille, the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Mayoral Candidate for Johannesburg, visited the Directorate Enforcing Older Persons’ Rights (DEOPR) Retirement Home recently.
The visit was initiated when the home’s CEO, Hennie Els, saw a video of Zille watching the Soweto Derby, where she was vocally supporting Orlando Pirates. Els then reached out to Zille and offered her a signed and framed Orlando Pirates jersey from the 1995 team that won the African Champions Cup.

While at the DEOPR Retirement Home, Zille interacted with some residents and toured the facilities. It was then brought to Zille’s attention that their one washing machine was broken, so she pledged to arrange for a new one.
Also in attendance was Councillor Michael Crichton. “I think that this has been a truly wonderful day, and it was fantastic for Helen Zille to witness this home’s great work.”
