WATCH: Alberton murder-accused couple pretrial hearing rolled over
Werner Jack Schoeman (42) and Delichia Bekker (43) stand accused of murdering Susan Gillian Murray, who lived on Oribi Street in Verwoerdpark, Alberton.
The trial of Werner Jack Schoeman (42) and Delichia Bekker (43), accused of murdering Susan Gillian Murray in Alberton, is scheduled for later this month.
Murray lived on Oribi Street in Verwoerdpark, and her decomposed body was discovered in Alberton North in November 2023.

Bekker, Murray’s daughter, was arrested days before Schoeman, who was later apprehended while hiding in South Hills. Both face multiple charges in connection with Murray’s death.
The case has experienced several postponements since their arrests. The State, however, confirmed on June 4 that it is satisfied with the evidence in the docket and is ready to proceed.
Crowded court roll
The pretrial hearing was originally scheduled for September 5, but the court roll was crowded with other cases.

The presiding magistrate instructed: “Mr Schoeman and Ms Bekker, the roll is crowded today, so the matter will be rolled over to Monday, September 8. Both of you shall remain in custody until then.”
The trial is now set to take place from September 15 to 19 at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
