Mondeor SAPS leads major crime crackdown in Glenvista and surrounding areas

Illegal immigrants arrested and criminal hotspots raided as police, private security, and drone surveillance join forces in Glenvista and surrounding areas.

On May 14, Mondeor SAPS led a high-density operation supported by various law enforcement agencies and security companies.

The operation targeted areas known for high crime rates, including an open veld behind Virgin Active in Glenvista and an informal settlement opposite Mall of the South.

The operation searched 68 individuals and 11 vehicles, with 54 individuals taken for profiling. Eight illegal immigrants were arrested, and 28 shacks were searched.

The collaboration between law enforcement agencies and security companies contributed to the operation’s success.

Captain Lunga Dube of the Mondeor SAPS expressed his delight at the operation’s success.

“This operation brought necessary scrutiny on settlements that harbour criminals and facilitate illegal activity. The collaboration with private security was key in this operation,” said Dube.

Specialised support

The operation received specialised support, including drone flights arranged by UAV & Drone Solutions, which provided aerial surveillance over the target areas.

Fox Security’s mobile command centre also played a crucial role in facilitating profiling with SAPS.

The operation’s success highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and security companies in combating crime.
